Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs Bimalendra Nidhi on Monday called on Indian former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh at the latter's residence in the Indian capital of New Delhi.

DPM Nidhi is presently in Delhi since August 18 as a special envoy of Prime Minister Puspa Kamal Dahal for making arrangements for high-level visits between Nepal and India as well as for political meetings in the wake of the formation of a new government in the country.

During today's meeting, the two held discussions on the issues of mutual interest as well as about the latest political developments of Nepal, according to Biswas Bikram, personal aide of DPM Nidhi.

Nidhi is scheduled to call on Bharatiya Janata party (BJP) Chairperson Amit Shah today itself.

Earlier, the DPM held separate meetings with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi as well as India's President Pranab Mukherjee, Minister for External Affairs Sushma Swaraj and Minister for Home Affairs Rajnath Singh.

Similarly, Congress (I)'s Vice-President Rahul Gandhi called on DPM Nidhi on Sunday at the hotel in New Delhi the latter has been staying.

During the meetings, India's high-ranking officials lauded the role of the government of Nepal in considering amendment in the new constitution and addressing the genuine demands put forth by some disgruntled Madhesh-centric political parties, shared DPM Nidhi's personal aide Bikram.

Among the objectives of DPM Nidhi's visit to India as an emissary of PM Dahal is to extend invitation to India's President for a visit to Nepal and place a request on the behalf of the government to fix a date for the same. RSS
