Indian authorities have filed a murder case against 18 people of Susta, Nawalparasi.
Indian police filed the case against the 18 Susta locals and eight Indian nationals at the local court in Bagaha after 27-year-old Prabhu Loniya was found dead in a paddy field at Naurangiya Kataha, India, a month ago. The case was filed based on the complaint lodged by Loniya’s widow. Susta villagers have claimed that the Indian police were trying to frame their fellow villagers.
They also said that Loniya was an informant of Bihar police who stayed in Susta and tipped off the Indian authorities about the activities of the people in Susta.
“The case was filed with the motive to terrorise us and drive us from Susta. People are afraid to go to bordering Indian towns after the case was filed,” said Aranjebe Khan, a local school teacher.
Some villagers said the Indian border security force, Sashastra Seem Bal, personnel started to harass them in the name of security inspection after the incident.
Chief District Officer of Nawalparasi Mahadev Pantha said he has instructed police probe the incident as well as the complaint made by Susta villagers against the Indian border security.
