Presenting a memorandum to Minister of Youth and Sports Daljit Shrepaili at Singha Durbar on Sunday, the IPYA demanded that NYC be reconstituted by accommodating youths from across the nation, including youths affiliated to all major political parties.
The IPYA has played a significant role in the formation of this ministry and in process of setting up the NYC, read the memorandum. “We have also assisted the ministry in most of its endavours while promoting youth awareness. But since the NYC was formed, the IPYA has been sidelined in all major activities and priority is given to only one particular party,” it said.
In March, the CPN-UML government had appointed Madhav Dhungel as the vice president of the NYC. The IPYA has since boycotted all event of the NYC for “appointing over 80 percent of UML cadres into the organisation and nominated district president affiliated to the party in more than 60 districts.”
