Rupa KC of the organisation said most of the people who were rescued from streets were disabled persons, women and children.
“These were helpless and people mostly from marginalised groups. Out of 400 people rescued, we successfully reunited 125 of them to their families,” KC said.
Manav Sewa Ashram was set up in 2012 in Chitwan to combat the problem of homelessness.
Over the years, the organisation has extended its services in Kathmandu and Makwanpur.
Today, around 150 people are staying in shelters run by the organisation in the three districts.
“The people staying in our shelters include intellectually challenged persons and women who were raped in streets,” KC said.
