Minister for Foreign Affairs Prakash Sharan Mahat on Wednesday was busy holding meetings with government secretaries to discuss details and status of India-funded projects in Nepal. “I urged the secretaries to provide details about the projects undertaken by India,” said Mahat. “We don’t want to go with routine stuff,” he told the Post. “We have to find such projects and cooperation with India that can give specific results.”
Secretaries from various ministries briefed Mahat on the status of various India-funded projects. They also informed Mahat about the new projects for which Indian assistance could be sought.
After the next meeting to be held in three days, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will start preparing the agenda for PM’s visit.
“Once we get concrete proposals from the line ministries, we will proceed further,” said Mahat, adding that only doable, concrete and specific projects and programmes will be discussed during the visit.
On Wednesday, Indian Ambassador Ranjit Rae also held talks with Mahat and held discussions about the preparations of PM Dahal’s visit to India. After meeting with Mahat, the Indian envoy left for New Delhi.
