Police are investigating into a robbery where an unidentified group allegedly made off with Rs 2.5 million cash from a parked vehicle at Budhahat Chowk in Biratnagar on Tuesday. The money was reportedly stolen from the car belonging to Mount Development Bank of Tehrathum district.
The bank’s employee, Suman Limbu, told police that the incident occurred while he had gone to Nepal Rastra Bank, leaving the money behind with the driver, Bir Bahadur Limbu.
Bir Bahadur claimed the robbers had snatched the money when he left the car to drink water.
Police said the car’s window had been smashed, but there were no witnesses.
Both Suman and Bir Bahadur are being held for questioning.
