‘China to assist in modernisation of NA’s military hardware’

The Chinese army officials made such assurance to Defence Minister Bal Krishna Khand during his recent China visit.
Minister Khand had held a meeting with China’s Defence Minister and State Councilor of the People's Republic of China Chang Wanquan, who is also the general of People’s Liberation Army, on October 11.
“The Chinese authorities have assured of providing military hardware to Nepal Army and assistance to Nepal government in disaster management sector,” said Minister Khand.
The Defence Minister reportedly told Chang that Nepal and China have always been good friends and and Nepal wants to move ahead in cooperation. “I thanked the Chinese government for the assistance China has provided to Nepal on various occasions including in the aftermath of devastating earthquake,” said Khand.
Chinese Defence Minister Chang lauded the role played by Nepal Army in cooperation with Chinese Army in the aftermath of earthquake in Nepal. He also praised the role of Nepal Army in international peace keeping missions.
In the meeting that lasted for 45 minutes, Minister Khand invited his Chinese counterpart to visit Nepal. He also gave verbal invitation through Chang to Chinese President Xi Jinping for Nepal visit.
Minister Khand, who had left on October 9 for a week long visit to China, took part in a two-day programme organised by China Institute of International Studies (CIIS).
