Corporate cricket: SS gears up for Super Sixes

A total of 19 corporate houses are competing in the tournament to be played at the Tribhuvan University Stadium. Kantipur Media Group, Century Bank, Civil Bank, NIC Asia Bank, Prabhu Bank, Nabil Bank, Nepal SBI Bank, Machhapuchhre Bank, Kumari Bank, Jyoti Bikash Bank, NCC Bank, NMB Finance, ICFC Finance, Ruslan, Subisu, Nepal Telecom, Sipradi Trading and Nimbus are the participating teams.
The teams are divided into six groups with the top two teams after league stage making it to the pre-quarterfinals. Four best runners-up teams with highest net run-rate will also join the group winners and runners-up in the last 16. SS Chief Executive Officer Raman Shiwakoti said the organisers are expecting a good tournament.
“We would like to thank everyone who have been supporting this event. We are trying to promote Nepali cricket and corporate cricket is a good start for us. We are expecting some tough competitions for the tournament,” said Shiwakoti. Century Bank Deputy CEO Jeevan Bhattarai lauded the effort from SS Events.
“Every since our establishment, Century Bank has been trying to contribute in the development of cricket. The Super Sixes is a good concept that brings all corporate house together. The tournament has grown up well and we are happy to be a part of it,” said Bhattarai.
The five-over-a-side tournament will see each team consisting of six players battling in the field with white ball and colour clothing. Player of the tournament and other individual winners are assured of prizes. Sipradi Trading are the defending champions.
