Amendment national need, says Mahato
Sadbhawana Party Chairman Rajendra Mahato says constitution implementation is the major challenge facing the country.Sadbhawana Party Chairman Rajendra Mahato says constitution implementation is the major challenge facing the country.
Talking to reporters in Sarlahi on Tuesday, Mahato said all the achievements gained so far could be lost if the constitution was not implemented.
Mahato stressed the need to amend the constitution to make it acceptable to all for its smooth implementation.
“Constitution amendment is a national need, rather than that only of the Madhesis, Tharus, Janajatis, Dalits and the disgruntled communities,” said Mahato. Terming the sections of society denying another amendment to the constitution “anti-republic”, he charged that only the forces that do not recognise the revolutionary political changes were against statute amendment.
The Sadbhawana Party chairman claimed that one of the purposes of forming the present coalition was constitution amendment. “If the government fails to amend the constitution, it will be irrelevant,” he asserted, outlining statute amendment and implementation of the three-point agreement as the main responsibilities of the Pushpa Kamal Dahal-led government.
