Kathmandu District Administration Office on Monday released a notice urging public not to perform Deusi-Bhailo programmes after 10 pm during the upcoming Tihar festival.Kathmandu District Administration Office on Monday released a notice urging public not to perform Deusi-Bhailo programmes after 10 pm during the upcoming Tihar festival.
In a statement on Friday, the DAO said the notice was issued as a measure to maintain law and order during the festival, which falls on October 28-November 1. “Public are requested to perform the Deusi-Bhailo only up to 10 pm with proper consent of house owners,” the statement said.
Deusi Bhailo is an integral part of Tihar when people visit the houses of their neighbours and relatives to sing traditional songs. In recent years, Deusi Bhailo troupes have also been performing popular songs and dance for entertainment.
Likewise, the DAO has also stated that use of firecrackers, another activity that is associated with Tihar and Chhath festivals, are strictly restricted across the country.
The statement has appealed the Tihar and Chhath celebrators not to produce, import, export, sell and distribute, transport and use fireworks like fire-crackers as the use of these explosive materials will have adverse effect on the health of the people, result in injuries and damage of life and property due to break out of fire.
