An exhibit aiming to collect funds for two impoverished schools in Dolpa is currently ongoing at the Nepal Art Council. The exhibit—Hamro Sano Prayas-2—opened at Nepal Art Council on October 23 and is organised by AVM Higher Secondary School as a part of their 50th anniversary celebration. The exhibition, inaugurated by artist Sashi Bikram Shah, displays 90 paintings by 22 students on sale.
The exhibit is the second instalment of Hamro Sano Prayas. Speaking to the Post, about the exhibit, principal of AVM, Sujeeta Manandhar, said, “We are very happy to exhibit these paintings made by our students to the general public. This exhibition has provided them with not just a platform to showcase their talent but also one to help underprivileged kids. We have been helping two schools in Dolpa for few years now by conducting donation drives. This time, however, we wanted to do something big and provide the schools with laptops and projectors.” Suyash Shrestha, a student who has five paintings at the exhibition, said, “The process of creating these paintings and exhibiting them has been really helpful. We got insights on colours and gained knowledge about different aspects of painting. Also the fact that we are helping someone through this exhibit is really satisfying.”
The exhibit will continue through October 26.
