36 injured in stampede after fire

At least 36 people were injured in a stampede after a fire broke out at the office building of District Land Survey Office (DSO) in Hetauda Sub-metropolis-5 of Makawanpur district on Wednesday. DLSO chief Dilip Singh and another unidentified person were critically injured in the incident. DLSO employees and service seekers ran helter-skelter after the three-storey building caught fire. Many of them were injured after they jumped off the windows and ran pell-mell down the stairs of the office.
The fire could have started from a hotel on the ground floor of the building at around 1:45pm, police suspected. According to a senior police official, 25 DLSO employees and 21 service seekers were injured in the incident.
