Indian President Pranab Mukherjee arrived here in Kathmandu on Wednesday for a three-day state visit to Nepal, leading a 60-member delegation. He is here at the invitation of President Bidya Devi Bhandari.
An Indian Army Airforce plane carrying the delegation landed at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu at 12:30 in the afternoon.
Members of general public had to face inconvenience as the traffic police blocked certain roads in the Capital.
President Bhandari received her Indian counterpart at the VVIP lounge at the Tribhuvan International Airport.
The Indian President's visit, after 18 years, is being seen as an opportunity to strengthen soured ties between the two countries in recent times.
Heavy presence of security personnel were seen in the Capital roads.
However, the daily lives of general public were hit during the passing of the president's motorcade.
Security personnel were seen urging people to stay off the roads and people plying on vehicles had difficult times finding an alternative route to reach their destination.
The government has announced a public holiday in view of the hassle during the Indian president visit.
