Nepal Army donates Rs 61m for Dharahara rebuilding

The Dharahara, also known as Bhimsen Tower, was completely destroyed in last year's Gorkha earthquake.
Chief of Army Staff Rajendra Chhetri handed over the cheque to Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal at the Prime Minister's Office (PMO). NA had collected the amount from constables to high ranked officials.
The amount would be deposited in the account opened for collecting the fund to construct the tower. While receiving the cheque, PM Dahal thanked NA for its support to construct the Dharahara saying that the effort has conveyed positive message to all.
PM Dahal after the cheque handover session praised Nepal Army. He further added that the government has been discussing various options for the reconstruction of Dharahara.
On the occasion, NA chief Chhetri said that the amount was collected from the NA rank and file aimed at contributing in national pride projects.
The then Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli had called the public to support to construct the Dharahara under the slogan of 'I will build my Dharahara myself.'
