Jatra premieres, release this weekend

The film premiered amid a function held at Jai Nepal Cinema Hall, in the Capital, on Thursday.
Written and directed by Pradeep Bhattarai, Jatra revolves around story of the three common traders’ struggle to stay afloat, despite the many trials and tribulations that comes with living in an expensive and unforgiving city like Kathmandu.
Speaking to the Post after the premiere event, few movie critics likened the film to 2012’s blockbuster Loot.
“The story is a pun towards our society and explores the ironies of our lives in the city, with a subtle, dark humour, consummating in an excellent movie,” said veteran actor Harihar Sharma, speaking to the Post.
The movie features artists such as Bipin Karki, Rabindra Singh Baniya, Rabindra Jha, Bhol Raj Sapkota, Praween Khatiwada, Kamalmani Nepal, Safar Pokharel, majority of who come with a background in theatre. Made under the banner of Shatkone Pictures, Jatra is produced jointly by Rabindra Singh Baniya, Singe Lama and Yadav Paudel.
