Short film Kamero screened in Jumla
The Human Rights Film Festival is currently on at the Jumla Chamber of Commerce premises in Khalanga. Speaking to the Post after attending the screening, Purna Neupane of Lamra, of Jumla, said, “The film is close to our reality. It captures our lifestyle, folk traditions and is also based on our language. It is entertaining and also informative. I liked every aspect of the film.”
Kamero, directed by journalist Arun Dev Joshi, has already been screened in about a dozen film festivals around the world. The film, which narrates the story of the Kamero pratha that was practiced around the Karnali region, is based on a short story by Madan Prize laureate Mahesh Bikram Shah.
The film features actors Siru Bista, Dal Singh Sunar, Tara Sarki, and Dipendra Upadhyay, in lead roles. The film also features the locals of Sinja village in Jumla.
