The committee, after enforcing banda for 11 consecutive days, had postponed the general strike until yesterday.
Various political parties [except CPN (Maoist Centre) and Janamukti party], youths, students, businessmen, traders, professionals enforced the banda today.
The protesters are agitated by the fact that the hilly districts in province 5 of earlier federal setup are proposed to be separated and inducted in province number 4 by the recent amendment proposal.
Vehicular movement came to a grinding halt along Siddhartha Highway, and roads connecting Gulmi and Argakhanchi. Schools, colleges, factories remained completely shut due to the strike.
CPN-UML Leader Narayan Acharya informed that they would announce further protest programmes after 48-hour general strike.
