Strike effect dismal in Valley

- Post Report, Kathmandu

Dec 22, 2016-

The general strike enforced by Netra Bikram Chand-led Maoist partially affected life in Kathmandu Valley on Thursday.

The day-long Kathmandu valley strike was called against the government decision to hike the prices of petroleum products and inflation.

CPN Maoist spokesperson Khadka Bahadur Bishwakarma said that they will organise further programmes of protest if the government fails to withdraw the recent price hike.

According to the Metropolitan Traffic Police Division, short and long distance vehicles are plying on the road since early morning. However, main market places and educational institutions have remained closed.

Meanwhile, the police have arrested several youths associated with the Chand-led Maoist party from Ratnapark early today morning.
