Reality show strengthens the Police-Public bond

The 13 episode reality show based on edutainment was designed to strengthen collaboration and trust between the police and the public.
Winner Lama bagged a cash purse of Rs 2,00,000, while Maya Shyangten, first runner-up and Prabina Dahit, second runner-up bagged Rs 50,000 and Rs 30,000 respectively.
The show, produced by Search for Common Ground Nepal, featured eight contestants who came from different backgrounds. During the program they underwent strategic police training specialising in homicide, human trafficking, road traffic and sexual harassment.
After winning the reality TV game show, the former Maoist combatant, stated, “I am grateful to my fans who supported me throughout this journey. I am thankful to the Nepal Police officers who trained and mentored us.” He also expressed his commitment to working closely with the Nepal Police. “During the conflict, I thought the police were against us. But, after being a part of Pahunch, I have realised that they too are like us, and they need our support,” Lama added.
Speaking about the show, Yubakar Raj Rajkarnikar, Director of Programmes at Search for Common Ground, said, “The reality show has succeeded in humanising the police, and also triggering a sense of belonging among public and police. Nepal Police cannot function in isolation, and they need the support of the public to ensure peace and security—this is the key message of the reality TV game show.”
After gaining popularity and positive response in the first season, the application forms for the second season of the reality show have been announced.
