Nepal, China to conduct first ever joint military drill

Chinese newspaper group People's Daily tweeted that Chinese MOD Spokesperson Senior Colonel Yang Yujun said the drill be conducted in 2017. The announcement was made by Colonel Yang amid a routine press meet.
Reuters reported spokesman Yang said that China and Nepal's militaries had in recent years had many forms of exchanges.
China and Nepal had been in "initial communication" about joint army exercises, and details would be announced in due time, Yang said without giving details.
The exercise will become the first between the two neighbours.
The Hindu reported the military drill will be named as Pratikar-1 and will focus on training Nepali soldiers in dealing with hostage scenarios involving international terror groups.
Nepal also holds military with some other countries including India and US.
