Veteran Nepali litterateur Kamal Mani Dixit no more

Veteran Nepali litterateur Kamal Mani Dixit passed away on Thursday at his residence in Patandhoka, Lalitpur. He was 87. 

Dixit, the founder Chairman of Madan Puraskar Guthi and Madan Puraskar Pustakalaya, breathed his last at 2:45 am this morning, Madan Puraskar Pustakalaya confirmed.

A die-hard lover of Nepali literature, Dixit was considered one of crowns of Nepali literature. He has contributed to over three dozen Nepali literary works his original creation and editing.


His two sons—Kunda Dixit and Kanak Mani Dixit—are established journalists of Nepal.  His daughter Rupa Joshi is also known for her writing. 

He was cremated at an electric crematorium in Pashupatinath temple area at 7 am today.

He was born on August 2, 1929 in Gairidhara, Kathmandu as the second son of Kedar Mani Acharya and Bidhya Devi Dixit.
