At a meeting with Reporter’s Club officials at Baluwatar on Wednesday, PM Dahal said that the apex court’s ruling has created an environment for the functioning of Parliament, with Madhes-based parties agreeing to the statute amendment through a political consensus.
“The latest SC ruling has prompted the political parties to come to a consensus. It has created an environment for Parliament to function without hindrance. A political consensus will be achieved soon,” the PM said, reiterating that constitution implementation is his government’s top priority.
Claiming that the governing parties have two-thirds majority in the House, Dahal also dared the UML and other opposition parties to foil the amendment proposal.
“The court ruling has vindicated the fact that the constitution amendment proposal is constitutional,” he said, adding that the government would announce the poll date once the election-related bills are approved by Parliament.
