The Rastriya Prajatantra Party called on President Bidhya Devi Bhandari and Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun on Monday and urged them to celebrate Poush 27, the birth anniversary of late king Prithvi Narayan Shah, as the national unity day.

Two RPP leaders—Dilnath Giri and Parshu Ram Khapung—on met President Bhandari and invited her to a tea reception to be organised by the party to mark the late king’s birth anniversary at Bhrikuti Mandap on Wednesday.

According to Giri, President Bhandari acknowledged the contribution made by Shah and added that she was also positive about marking Poush 27 as a national unity day.

Later on Monday, the two RPP leaders called on Vice President Pun. The Vice President said that it was apposite to remember the contributions of the late king Shah in unifying the country, according to the leaders.
