The show features paintings that revolve around how the survivors of the Gorkha earthquakes have been coping with the tragedy.
The exhibit was inaugurated by veteran artist Krishna Manandhar amid a function on January 10. Speaking during the event, Manandhar said, “Tamang’s artworks are outstanding in their own right. They are a testament of an artist’s hardwork and diligence.”
Meanwhile, art critic Ramesh Khanal said, “It’s fascinating to observe how Tamang has captured the public sentiments in reaction to the quakes through a deft use of colours.”
Tamang’s artworks are abstract in form and, as the title implies, depict the lives and sentiments of quake survivors who continue to languish in makeshift temporary settlements, nearly two years after the calamity.
Speaking about the exhibit, Tamang said, “The tragedy continues to affect thousands of people but through the paintings I have also tried to highlight the indefatigable morale that Nepalis showed during the aftermath of quakes, and how, resolved, we got back on our feet quickly afterwards.”
