Sub-panel to examine truth of charges against Karki

A meeting of the Impeachment Recommendation Committee (IRC) convened at Singha Durbar on Wednesday constituted a three-member sub-committee, said CPN (Maoist Centre) lawmaker Amanlal Modi said.
Nepali Congress lawmaker Deepak Kuinkel, CPN-UML’s Rewatiraman Bhandari and CPN (Maoist Centre) lawmaker Ram Narayan Bidari are the members of the panel.
The sub-committee has been directed to come up with its report within the next 15 days by conducting study and research on the impeachment against Karki, lawmaker Modi said. The IRC will take a call regarding the impeachment based on the report of submitted.
The meeting arrived at the decision to form the sub-committee after holding discussions at the IRC and consultations with legal experts including Attorney General.
The impeachment motion against Karki was forwarded to the IRC on January 8 after minor discussions on the same. The impeachment committee should complete its task within a month. Karki will be relieved from the top post of CIAA if the committee recommends for his impeachment and the motion is endorsed by a two-thirds member of the House.
