Over dozen injured in protest against LLRC report

Police resorted to firing in air and rubber bullets to contain the agitating crowd.
Around 500 people from Thansingh, Chaughada, Khanigaun and Suryamati have been staging protests for the last six days demanding Likhu village council be kept in Bidur. According to the villagers, the LLRC in its report has recommended what was not recommended by the commission’s technical committee.
The protesters also vandalised District Development Committee’s office and two vehicles. Local leaders of the Nepali Congress, CPN-UML and the CPN (Maoist Centre) among others are also against the LLRC’s report.
Locals of Likhu and other nearby villages have warned of intensifying their protests if their demand is not addressed by revising the report.
The LLRC in its report has recommended two municipalities and 10 village councils in Nuwakot district.
