A cabinet meeting on Thursday decided to ask Election Commission (EC) to get ready for holding the local body election.
With the endorsement of Election Bill today, the deck for holding local poll has been cleared, Minister Nabindra Joshi said. “That’s why the EC will be asked to move ahead with the preparation works,” he added.
The meeting today also decided to create a team under Local Development Minister Hitraj Pandey comprising Ministers Deepak Bohara and Nabindra Raj Joshi to study the report prepared by Restructuring Commission. The team will submit its study report by May 24.
The Cabinet also decided to hold talks with all the political parties in order to create an environment conducive for conducting local body elections.
