Nepal crashed to a huge 59-run defeat at the hands of Bangladesh in the Twenty20 World Cup for the Blind at the Delhi Saket DDA in New Delhi, India on Wednesday.

Batting first, Bangladesh amassed a mammoth 203-2 in 20 overs before restricting Nepal to 144-8 after Tanjlur Rahman and Md Faisal picked up two wickets apiece. Nepal had opened their tournament campaign on Tuesday with a 10-wicket loss against Australia.

They will now take on South Africa in the third match of round robin league event from where the top four teams make it to semi-finals.

Nepal were heading towards an embarrassingly  low total as they were reduced to 73-7 in 10.4 overs. However, skipper Kritan Shrestha Duwal pushed the team towards a respectable total forging a 44-run partnership for the eighth wicket with Ramesh Bahadur Baniya. 

Baniya scored 18 off 22 balls without a boundary. Duwal also shared unbroken 27-run stand for the ninth wicket with Sunil Rana Magar (six). Duwal made 55 off 60 as the Nepali innings concluded without a boundary. Sunil Subedi Chhetri made 16 runs from the middle order.

Earlier, the opening duo of Md Abdul Malek and Md Mohsin Hosen Joy inflicted most of the damage laying the foundation for a huge total with a 182-run partnership. Joy remained unbeaten in his 70-ball 88, while Malek notched up 83 off 54 balls with eight hits to the fence. Both Bangladeshi wickets came of a run out. 

Nepal, making their second appearance in the World Twenty20 for Blind, are the only non-Test playing team to compete in the tournament and will also play against West Indies, England, Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka and New Zealand.
