Addressing the concluding session of the two-day international seminar on Role of communications and technology during crisis organised by the Institute of Crisis Management Studies on Thursday, Minister for Industry Nabindra Raj Joshi shared information about this. "The government was committed to working hand in hand with the national and international sectors on the issue of the strengthening of the disaster risk reduction resilience," he added.
The seminar focused on the discussions on measures taken to communicate with the community during disaster times in various countries and other relating issues.
Representatives of three security bodies — Nepal Army, Nepal Police and the Armed Police Force—apprised the gathering of the role security personnel played during the Gorkha Earthquake and preparations made for possible disaster(s) in future.
Likewise, representatives from the British Red Cross and US Aid made presentations on how to communicate with the community during disaster.
Institute President Ram Thapaliya said the discussions were held during the seminar about the precautions while communicating information about the disaster management with the people.
Representatives from the Japanese Embassy in Nepal, European Union, IFRC and university teachers, geologists, government representatives and students took part in the seminar. RSS
