He claimed that the unanimous decision was taken after Thapa agreed to retain the plough as the electoral symbol and hold elections for at least one third positions in the Officer Bearer.
“When the two parties announced merger, both enjoyed equal status. But some leaders are behaving as though the RPP got dissolved into the RPP-Nepal,” he said at a programme prior to the inauguration of the party’s first unity convention on Friday.
He also argued that the convention representatives should be allowed to elect their office bearers. Issuing a joint statement on Wednesday Lohani, former RPP chair Pashupati Shumsher Rana and party’s senior leader and former PM Lokendra Bahadur Chand had announced that they would support Thapa as the new chairman.
