TIA customs officials arrested Kantilal Kashyap, a Dubai-born Indian national, from the airport premises after he was found wearing two neck chain and a bracelet weighing half kilos each.
Kashyap had arrived in Kathmandu from an Air Arabia flight from Dubai at 12 pm.
The market value of the confiscated gold is Rs7.1 million.
Customs officials suspect that the arrested individual wore the gold on himself to avoid luggage check.
Kashyap's passport revealed that he had visited Kathmandu on July 2016 and returned back on February 6. The officials also believe that Kashyap's frequent visit to Kathmandu could mean that he is involved in gold smuggling.
Kashyap, originally from Ahmedabad, India, holds a passport issued from United Arab Emirates.
Earlier on January 5, Central Investigation Bureau of Nepal Police had arrested three persons and seized 33 kg of gold from their possession at the TIA.
