Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Yu Hong called on Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba at the latter's residence in Budhanilkantha on Tuesday.

During the meeting, the duo discussed issues related to mutual interests and cordial relations as well as contemporary subjects, NC chief secretary Krishna Prasad Poudel said in a press statement.

On the occasion, ambassador Yu expressed happiness over the announcement of local polls date in Nepal and shared that China was keen to extend support for the development of tourism, agriculture and electricity in Nepal.

During the meeting, Deuba said that periodic election was the beauty of democracy, thus polls date announcement was inevitable.

He also expressed his confidence that the constitution amendment bill tabled at the Parliament would be passed and the demands of the Tarai-based parties would be addressed.

Deuba also praised the continuous support and goodwill received on behalf of the Government of China and Chinese people for Nepal's development, reads the press statement . RSS
