A notice citing special cause for the postponement of the House meet was pasted at the Parliament. The notice stated that the next meet has been scheduled for tomorrow at 2 pm.
During a meeting of Business Advisory Committee held earlier today, House speaker Onsari Gharti and chief whips of eight major political parties unanimously decided to postpone the parliament meeting to seek consensus regarding the tabling of constitution amendment, informed parliament secretariat.
Main opposition CPN-UML has been opposing the amendment bill whilst Madhes-based parties have been pressing for tabling the bill at the House.
Meanwhile, major parties are holding a meeting to seek consensus following the announcement of date for local polls.
Likewise, UML along with other nine opposition parties will also be holding a separate meeting to form an opinion regarding the same.
Madhesi Morcha has already announced programmes of protest after the government on Monday announced to conduct the local level elections on May 14.
