Corporate Clash starts on Friday

A total of 13 teams are participating in the 10-day league-cum-knockout tournament to be played at the Royal KCTC indoor facility in Golfutaar. The participating teams have been divided into three groups with five teams placed in Group ‘A’ from where two teams will make it to the semi-finals. Only the winners from Group ‘B’ and ‘C’ will advance into the last four.
Bank of Kathmandu Lumbini, Nepal Life Insurance, Nepal Sports Journalists Forum, Machapuchhre Bank and Ruslan are drawn in Group ‘A’. Group ‘B’ consists of Mega Bank, Nepal Republic Media, Citizen Bank and Tele World. NIC Asia Bank, Max Media, ICFC Finance and Civil Bank are drawn in Group ‘C’.
The winners, runners-up and individual award winners will get gift hampers. The Corporate Clash is first event after Kathmandu Cricket Training Centre (KCTC) recently tied up with Royal Indoor to handle Nepal’s first indoor cricket facility. KCTC is owned by national cricket team vice-captain Gyanendra Malla and plans to organise various cricket programmes along with providing training to aspiring cricketers.
Malla said the target of Corporate Clash is to take cricket into corporate sector. “By getting involved with this tournament, people from the corporate sector will get to know more about the game. This will help in building relations with a large number of corporate house which will ultimately benefit cricket as a whole,” said Malla.
The tournament will not have leg before wicket (LBW) decisions. Each team will field eight players contesting a 12-over game.
