Tharuhat slams govt plan to hold local level polls

Bhanuram Chaudhary, chairman of Tharuhat Tarai Party, claimed on Wednesday that the major political parties were plotting against federalism. “The local body election is not the solution of the ongoing problems. Without addressing the demands of the disgruntled groups, there’s no meaning of holding the election,” he said.
The committee is planning to unveil its protest programmes against the government move within a few days. It has already started mobilising supporters in Kailali, Kanchanpur and Nawalparasi districts.
“To go on a protest is the only option we have right now. The government announced the election date without any preparations. The local body election should be held only after conducting federal and provincial elections,” said Prabhat Chaudhary, coordinator of the committee’s Kailali Kanchanpur chapter.
Janak Chaudhary, lawmaker of Sanghiya Samajbadi Forum, said that his party was against the government’s hasty decision.
