Inaugurating the BP Memorial Building in Butwal on Saturday, Deuba said the local polls would not be postponed on any pretext. He directed the party cadres to carry out necessary preparations to consolidate the party’s position in the local polls scheduled for May 14.
The former prime minister stressed the need for holding the local polls on time to institutionalise republicanism and implement constitution in the country. Explaining that the timely polls are crucial to incorporate all the ethnic and regional groups, Deuba claimed that the NC would emerge the biggest party in the upcoming elections. He said conspiracies were being hatched in the country to create a division between people of the Hills and Madhes.
UML’s Nepal backs Dahal govt for polls
PARBAT: CPN-UML leader Madhav Kumar Nepal has said his party would support the government in holding the elections within the constitutional deadline. At a press meet on Saturday, Nepal said the incumbent government under Pushpa Kamal Dahal would continue if it was committed to hold all three tiers of elections on time. The government should hold the local polls on the announced date at any cost, he demanded. (PR)
