Addressing a programme to welcome newcomers to the party at Dhumbarahi on Sunday, Oli said: “Only yesterday [Saturday], I had spoken with a leader from Madhes. He told me the UML will secure a landslide victory that will send out a lesson to others.”
Claiming that UML’s popularity was on the rise in the Tarai, Oli said the party would soon be holding a big roadshow in Madhes that would pull thousands of people into the party over the next 15 days.
Oli reiterated that the UML would not allow the House to pass the constitution amendment bill under any circumstances.
Warning of conspiracies to divide the nation into mountains, hills and Tarai, he said the UML is committed to safeguarding the national sovereignty and geographical integrity.
Oli challenged the ruling parties to respond to media reports that money changed hands in the controversial appointment of ambassadors for various countries.
On the occasion, a group comprising CPN (Maoist Centre)’s Kapan Pokhrel and CPN (Maoist Revolutionary) Mohan Baidya faction’s Santosh Khadka were welcomed to the party.
