Inaugurating the 10th assembly of the Dhanusha district chapter of the Federation of Nepali Journalists here on Monday, the former head of state urged the parties to find a way out by amending the constitution for its swift implementation.
“It’s 18 months since I retired from the post of president but the nation is stuck politically,” said Yadav. “A failure to implement the new constitution will give birth to tyranny,” he warned.
Recalling the moment of promulgating the constitution in 2015, Yadav said he had unveiled the charter amid political polarisation.
Yadav indirectly criticised the CPN-UML’s “extreme nationalism”, Nepali Congress’ “status quoism”, and the Madhes-based parties’ “obstinacy”. He said the UML’s stance on the constitution amendment process and the Madhes-based parties’ resolve not to honour any outcome of the due parliamentary process would complicate the situation.
