Police said that as many as 41 persons were injured in the incident.
The injured are receiving treatment at the District Hospital in Jajarkot.
Police said that the bus (Na 3 Kha 2279) was heading towards Khara from Khalanga when the incident occurred at Dhangaredanda in Bohara Gaum along the Chinchu-Jajarkot road section this after afternoon.
It has been learnt that there were over 50 persons on board the ill-fated bus.
The incident site is five kilometres from Khalanga, the district headquarters of Jajarkot.
DSP Bhabesh Rimal informed that the deployed police personnel have retrieved a dozen bodies from the incident site.
The identities of the deceased are yet to be ascertained.
Nepal Army and Nepal Police personnel have been deputed for the rescue operation.
DSP Rimal said that the incident might have occurred due to over-speed.

7 killed, 15 injured in Jajarkot bus accident
At least seven persons died and 15 others injured when a bus they were travelling in met with an accident at Bohara Gaun in Malika Municipality-4 of Jajarkot district on Thursday.
It has been learnt that there were 50 persons on board the ill-fated bus (Na 3 Kha 2279) when the accident occurred.
Nepal Army and Nepal Police personnel have been deployed for the rescue operation.
Police said that the tragedy took place when the bus skidded off the road and fell some 200 metres down.
The injured has been taken to a hospital in the district for treatment.
