“Earlier such activities used to be carried out clandestinely, but this time they openly said ‘the Madhes is prohibited for you and you all would be killed’, Oli said at a party programme organised to “inform the party members” about the Saptari incident. “Then they started hurling different types of home-made bombs,” Oli added. “The NC, Maoist Centre and Madhesi Morcha are responsible for the incident.”
Three persons were killed on Monday when security forces policing the UML’s election rally at Maleth of Saptari opened fire on SLMM supporters for trying to disrupt the party’s programme. The fourth protester died on Wednesday.
“It was an open attempt of violence against the opposition leaders,” said Oli, accusing the Morcha of inciting communal violence. He also challenged Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal to step down if he cannot hold local elections.
