Four parties within the Samyukta Loktantrik Madhesi Morcha (SLMM) on Thursday have withdrawn their support to the current government led by Pushpa Kamal Dahal after the government failed to address their five-point demand within a week-long ultimatum that ended on Tuesday.
The largest party in the SLMM, Sanghiya Samajbadi Forum-Nepal, having 15 lawmakers, however, handed over a letter of the party's decision to withdraw its support to the government to the speaker Onsari Gharti on Wednesday before Morcha decided to withdraw its support to the government.
The four parties of Morcha have registered their decision of withdrawing support to the government at the Parliament Secretariat in Singhadurbar on Thursday. Remaining two parties including Nepal Sadbhawana Party and Tarai Madhes Sadbhawana Party are also preparing to withdraw support.
Altogether seven parties in Morcha have 39 votes that includes Tarai Madhes Loktantrik Party having 11 lawmakers, Sadbhawana Party having five lawmakers, Tarai Madhes Sadbhawana Party with three lawmakers, Tara Madhes Samajbadi Party with three lawmakers and Madhesi Janadhikar Forum -Ganatantrik and Nepal Sadbhawana Party having one each lawmakers besides SSF-N with 15 lawmakers.
However, their withdrawal would have not effect on the existence of the existing coalition as Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has inducted Rastriya Prajatantra Party's chairman Kamal Thapa having 37 lawmakers as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Federal Affairs and Local Development on March 26, a day after the Morcha had issued a week-long ultimatum.
Meanwhile the Sanghiya Gathabandan is holding a meeting to devise next strategy after the Morcha's withdrawal of its support to the Dahal led government.
The Morcha leaders on Wednesday had refused PM Dahal's new proposal to finalize the issues of provincial boundary from a commission before the Provincial and Federal elections.
SLMM leaders have claimed that the PM Dahal's proposal was not trustworthy.
