Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modhi has said that facts behind the Kanchanpur incident would be brought out soon by carrying out a fair investigation and action would be taken against those found guilty.
He said so during a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Bimalendra Nidhi on Friday.
Gobinda Gautam of Ananda Bazaar, Punarbas Municipality-8 in Kanchanpur district, was killed when India’s Seema Sashastra Bal (SSB) allegedly opened fire on locals at Nepal-India border on March 9 during an altercation over the construction of a culvert at the border.
“Nepal is our good friend,” Indian PM Modi said, adding, “We want to keep good relations with our neighbour.”
During the meeting, the duo also discussed contemporary political situation of Nepal.
Minister Nidhi had left Kathmandu on March 13 to take part in a conference on counter-terrorism in New Delhi.
