DPM Thapa stages sit-in outside EC’s office

  • Thapa’s participation comes after police used force to clear RPP protesters

Mar 20, 2017-Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Kamal Thapa took part in a sit-in protest in front of Election Commission (EC)’ office at Jamal on Monday.

Thapa reached the protest site after Police today afternoon baton charged and fired tear gas shells to disperse the agitating protesters of the party.

The RPP supporters had reached Jamal to picket the Election Commission (EC)’s office against the constitutional body’s decision to delete ‘constitutional monarchy’ and ‘Hindu state’ from party statute.

RPP is a coalition partner in the incumbent Pushpa Kamal Dahal-led government with four ministers and state ministers.
