Sadbhawana Party Chairman Rajendra Mahato, who is also a key member of Samyukta Loktantrik Madhesi Morcha (SLMM), has warned of running a parallel government in Tarai-Madhes.

Speaking at a programme organised by Rafat Sanchar Club in Bhaktapur on Tuesday, leader Mahato accused the big parties of taking Madhes issue for granted. He said that it would be misfortunate for the country if elections were conducted by avoiding the Madhes.

Leader Mahato further said that constitution amendment is not gaining pace due to dishonesty on the part of big three political parties—CPN-UML, Nepali Congress and CPN (Maoist Centre). He warned that there could be bloodshed in the country if anyone tried to conduct local level elections without first amending the constitution to address the Madhesi aspirations.

He added that the conduction of the elections by putting the issue of constitution amendment, the key demand of Madhesi Morcha, on the back burner would amount to a betrayal.
