Mar 22, 2017-
Chaudhary Group President Binod Chaudhary has been ranked 1,567th in the world’s billionaires list prepared by the Forbes. The business magazine has featured 2,043 billionaires this year.
Chaudhary, who made his debut in the Forbes billionaires list in 2013, saw his fortune increase by $210 million last year. Forbes has valued Chaudhary’s net worth at $1.31 billion, up from $1.1 billion last year. Chaudhary’s conglomerate Cinnovation/CG Group’s assets include a controlling stake in Nabil Bank, a fast-growing foods business best known for the instant noodles brand Wai Wai and a string of hotels in Asia, and more recently in Africa, where in a joint venture with Uganda’s Mukwano Group, he is building hotels in Uganda and Rwanda.
Chaudhary’s three sons, Nirvaan, Rahul and Barun accompany the 59-year-old businessman with the family business. The English edition of his autobiography, Making it Big, was published last year.
Microsoft Co-founder Bill Gates has been ranked first in the Forbes list of the world’s wealthiest people as his fortune rose to $86 billion, from $75 billion, followed by investor Warren Buffett, up $14.8 billion to $75.6 billion.
Others in the top 10 list included Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, who moved up to number three position with the biggest gain of any person on the planet, a $27.6 billion rise in his fortune of $72.8 billion. Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg took the number five spot on the list and Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison took the seventh position.
The global population of billionaires, now put at a record 2,043, marks the biggest annual increase in 31 years since the magazine began compiling the list.
The number of US billionaires on the list was 565, which Forbes attributed to the recent stock market surge since Trump’s November 2016 election. China was second with 319 billionaires.
