Lawmakers of the ruling CPN (Maoist Centre) have demanded clarifications from Prime Minster and Parliamentary Party (PP) leader Pushpa Kamal Dahal on media reports that “influential ministers from his government have distributed budget haphazardly”.
According to a senior Maoist Centre leader, during the party’s PP meeting on Tuesday lawmakers questioned Dahal over random disbursement of budget at election constituencies of the influential leaders and ministers. Reports suggest that Hitraj Pandey, who was minister for federal affairs and local development until the first week of March, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Krishna Bahadur Mahara and PM Dahal himself among others have distributed budget in Rolpa and Chitwan districts.
Lawmakers also expressed anger at the party for not paying due attention to them despite the Maoist Centre leading the government.
“When are we going to get necessary budget for our constituencies if our own finance minister cannot allocate funds?” Maoist Centre lawmakers are learnt to have asked during Tuesday’s meeting.
