Maoist, RPP cadres clash in Dhading

The clash erupted over a dispute on changing of a polling station for the voters of remote Rubi Valley Village Council. The local administration had called an all-party meeting to decide the polling stations for the upcoming local level elections.
At the meeting, the RPP cadres had voiced their protest against the suggestion of shifting the polling station to Chalise Village from Boarang, Sertung, the constituency of RPP leader and former Home Minister Buddhi Man Tamang. The argument soon took a turn for the worse when the RPP activists assaulted the local Maoist leader, Ram Singh Tamang, and the latter’s supporters retaliated.
The Maoist party district secretariat said the RPP activists, led by Prashant Tamang, had launched the attack against Ram Singh.
Police arrested Prashant and two other RPP supporters, Regh Ghale and Roman Tamang from the scene.
Prashant, it turned out was, on the police wanted list in connection to a murder. He was sent to the Capital for investigation.
Chief District Officer Umesh Kumar Dhakal said the meeting was convened to find a solution to the disputed polling station at the political level through talks.
