Speaking in a programme organised by Makwanpur chapter of Federation of Nepalese Industries here on Sunday, DPM Thapa claimed that consensus would be reached with the Madhesi parties after Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal returns from his China trip.
He reiterated that the local elections are being held in the country after 20 years and that the government is committed in conducting the elections successfully by creating environment conducive towards that end.
"There is a huge difference in terms of rights and responsibilities of past Village Development Committee structures and recent village council type structure," said DPM Thapa, who also chairs the fourth largest Rastriya Prajatantra Party.
"Everyone should rise above the partisan interest and participate in local level elections," he said, adding that RPP joined the government with intention to conduct the elections on time.
DPM Thapa instructed the government officials of Makwanpur to work honestly on their part to make the election successful. Furthermore, he directed Chief Administrative Officer and local development officials to immediately fill the vacant posts in government offices.
