The main opposition CPN-UML has decided to deploy all the leaders “without specific work” in the local level elections. The main opposition CPN-UML has decided to deploy all the leaders “without specific work” in the local level elections.
The standing committee meeting held at party office in Dhumbarahi on Sunday, however, failed to finalise the work divisions of the leaders as the leadership could not complete necessary homework.
According to party Secretary Gokarna Bista, the meeting dwelt on preparations for the upcoming local polls and the party was for devising work divisions for the leaders without any assignments.
“But that could not be completed due to the lack of proper homework,” he said, but quickly added that the party had started preparations to manage the work division.
The UML has already sent the criteria for selecting the candidates for the local level elections.
As per the selection criteria ward chiefs and members would be selected by concerned district committees; chiefs of rural municipalities and municipalities would be selected by provincial committees and chiefs of metropolitan cities would be finalised by the party’s central committee.
The central committee will resolve any disputes over the selection process.
