A meeting of the NC Central Working Committee on Tuesday decided to take the lead on constitution amendment proposal forwarded by the government.
The party, however, does not offer a contingency plan in case the bill is not approved by the Parliament and fails to meet the demands of the agitating Madhes-based parties.
Several NC CWC members were divided during the three-day deliberations whether the elections should be held without the participation of the Madhes based parties or not.
The NC also decided to keep intact the present party structure up to the ward level and to mobilise the leaders and carders for the May 14 polls.
The meeting also decided to form panels in all 75 districts to pick the party candidates for the elections. The candidate selection panels will be represented by the party’s regional chiefs, Parliament members belonging to the relevant constituencies, CWC members, and the office bearers of the party’s in the concerned districts.
